The Work Of Alex Mandli Potter in The Smith Art Gallery

The Clair E. Smith Art Gallery in Barrington High School is currently displaying the ceramic work of Alex Mandli thru October 23rd.  His work involves the very basics of making pots, namely, the use of clay, water and fire.  He studied the pots of many ancient cultures and became interested in firing techniques, specifically their firing of work in a pit and became attracted to the random action of fire on clay or what has been termed "the gift of the flame".

His art work has won numerous awards and is part of permanent collections located in France, Washington, D.C. , Los Angeles, New York, Chicago and various locations in Wisconsin.  Mr. Mandli is currently residing and teaching art in Racine, Wisconsin.  For further information, please visit his website at AlexMandli.com.
